2. Basic principle: local data processing
OneTwo Ski has no server of the developer, no user account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no third-party SDKs and no tracking. No data is collected or transmitted to the developer. Processing takes place on your device.
3. What data the app stores
The app stores your ski days with route, times, speed, altitude, runs, lifts, names, descriptions, tags, color tags, photos (with location and viewing direction) and your settings on your device. Heart rate values stay on the device and are not synced through iCloud. All local data is part of the normal backup of your iPhone.
4. Location
Location is used to record the route of a recording you started, also with the screen locked (background location). In the background, location runs only while a recording is running or paused; it ends when you finish the recording. In the foreground the app also uses your location without a running recording, for example to show your position on the map, to show the current altitude and GPS hints in the Record tab, to assign a place to a photo and to suggest a matching area for the slope map based on your location. The app only asks for “While Using the App”. While recording, the system shows the blue location indicator. Location is not transmitted to the developer.
5. Other permissions
The app asks for permissions only when you use the matching feature. Motion: barometer for more accurate altitude. Camera: optional, photos during a recording. Photos (add only): optional, only if you turn on the “Original to Photos” switch, the app puts a copy of your photos in the library; the app does not read the library. Health: optional, read heart rate and save finished activities as workouts. On Apple Watch the app starts a workout session during a recording so that heart rate is measured more often (setting “Watch measurement”, can be turned off); the iPhone writes the workout itself. Heart rate values are not synced through iCloud.
6. Slope and trail data
The slope, trail, lift and gondola data for 36 regions is built into the app and works without a network connection. Source: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL license). To display the map background (including satellite and hybrid) the app uses Apple’s map framework; Apple’s privacy terms apply. If you tap the OpenStreetMap link in the detail view of a slope or lift, the OpenStreetMap website opens; its privacy terms then apply.
7. Voice announcements
Voice announcements (time, distance, duration, top speed; after runs also top speed and vertical drop) are generated by your device itself using the system speech output. Automatic announcements are off by default and can be turned on in Settings; the “Announce” button speaks the status at any time. They run in the background while a recording is running.
8. Widgets, Live Activity, Siri Shortcuts and Apple Watch
Widgets, the Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, Siri Shortcuts and the Apple Watch app work with data on your own devices. The Live Activity shows sport, duration and speed, and heart rate only if you turn that on in Settings. The Apple Watch does not record by itself but controls the recording on the iPhone. Data exchange between iPhone and Apple Watch runs through Apple’s system functions.
9. iCloud sync (optional)
The app works fully without iCloud. If you turn on sync and are signed in to iCloud, your activities, photos and settings (without heart rate values) are synchronized between your devices via the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account. The transfer runs exclusively through Apple’s infrastructure; the developer has no access to this data. Apple’s privacy terms apply: apple.com/legal/privacy. If an activity was changed on two devices, you decide in the conflict manager which version applies; for settings, the newer change wins. In Settings you can also delete the app’s data in iCloud.
10. Export
Exported files (GPX) and photos are files under your control. Note that a GPX file contains your route with places, altitudes and times (without heart rate values). Where you send it is up to you.
11. Contact by email
If you write to support, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request.
12. Legal basis
Where personal data is processed, this is done to provide the app functions you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For location, Health, camera and the optional iCloud sync it is your consent by granting the permission or turning on the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Answering support requests is based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
13. Disclosure to third parties
Your data is not disclosed to third parties, except for the technically necessary processing by Apple described above as part of the optional iCloud sync and the map display.
14. Your rights
Your data is on your device or in your own iCloud account; you can view, edit, export and delete it in the app at any time. In addition, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, subject to the legal requirements.
