2. Basic principle: local data processing
OneTwo Running has no server of the developer, no user account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no third-party SDKs and no tracking. No data is collected or transmitted to the developer. Processing takes place on your device.
3. What data the app stores
The app stores your activities with route, times, pace, altitude, steps, notes, photos (with location and viewing direction) and your settings on your device. Heart rate values are stored only if you turn on the heart rate display, and stay on the device.
4. Location
Location is used exclusively to record the route of a recording you started, also with the screen locked (background location). While recording, the system shows the blue location indicator. Outside a recording, the app uses location only to show your position in the Map tab while it is open; it is not used in the background then. The “Always” permission is optional, recording also works with “While Using the App”. The map comes from Apple Maps and needs internet: the system sends Apple the visible map area; the app itself does not transmit routes. If you choose the name suggestion “Place” when saving, the start point of the recording is sent to Apple’s location service to determine a place name. Location is not transmitted to the developer.
5. Other permissions
The app asks for permissions only when you use the matching feature. Motion & Fitness: steps, cadence and barometric altitude. Camera: photos along the route. Photos (add only): only if you also save photos as originals to the Photos app. Health: read heart rate and save finished activities as workouts, in each case only if heart rate is turned on in Settings. The app does not sync heart rate values to iCloud and does not transmit them to the developer. On Apple Watch the app starts a workout session during a recording so that heart rate is measured more often; it is discarded afterwards and not saved in Health.
6. Voice feedback
The voice feedback (per kilometer or mile, on pause, after saving and via the announce button) is generated by your device itself. It is off by default, can be turned on in Settings and then runs in the background while a recording is running. The announce button also works when voice feedback is off.
7. Widgets, Live Activity, Siri Shortcuts and Apple Watch
Widgets, the Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, Siri Shortcuts and the Apple Watch app work with data on your own devices. Data exchange between iPhone and Apple Watch runs through Apple’s system functions.
8. iCloud sync (optional)
The app works fully without iCloud. If you turn on sync and are signed in to iCloud, activities and photos are synchronized between your devices via the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account, and the settings units and auto-pause via iCloud key-value storage. Sync is off by default. The transfer runs exclusively through Apple’s infrastructure; the developer has no access to this data. Apple’s privacy terms apply: apple.com/legal/privacy. If the same activity was changed on two devices, you decide which version to keep.
9. Export
Exported files (GPX) and photos are files under your control. Note that a GPX file contains your route with places and times. Where you send it is up to you.
10. Contact by email
If you write to support, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request. Please do not send location data you do not want to share.
11. Legal basis
Where personal data is processed, this is done to provide the app functions you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For location, Health, camera and the optional iCloud sync it is your consent by granting the permission or turning on the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Answering support requests is based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
12. Disclosure to third parties
Your data is not disclosed to third parties, except for the technically necessary processing by Apple described above as part of the optional iCloud sync.
13. Your rights
Your data is on your device or in your own iCloud account; you can view, edit, export and delete it in the app at any time. In addition, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, subject to the legal requirements.
