2. Basic principle: local data processing
OneTwo Scanner has no server of the developer, no user account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. No data is collected or transmitted to the developer. All processing takes place on your device: text recognition, translation and, from iOS 26 on supported devices, the Apple Intelligence features (title suggestion, summary).
3. What data the app stores
Which documents you scan or import is entirely up to you. The app stores your documents with pages, edits (as separate layers, the original is kept), recognized text, saved signature, color tags and settings and, unless you turn it off, a history of scanned QR codes and barcodes. Deleted documents stay in the trash for 30 days. On the device only, the app also summarizes crash and performance reports from the system (MetricKit); they leave the device only if you attach the diagnostics to a message yourself.
4. Protection on the device
You can lock the app and protect individual documents. Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode are used to unlock. The check is performed exclusively by the operating system; the developer gets no access to your biometric data. The privacy screen (in Settings, on by default) hides the content in the app switcher.
5. Permissions
The app asks for permissions only when you use the matching feature. Camera: only to scan documents, for the live scanner and for the translator camera (also when the device is locked). Face ID: only if you turn on the optional App Lock or protect a document. Photos (add only): only if you save exported images to Photos. For imports the app uses the system photo picker, which needs no access to your library.
6. Live translation and Apple Intelligence
Live translation uses Apple’s Translation framework on the device and may ask once to download a language. Apple Intelligence features appear only on supported devices running iOS 26 or later and run on the device.
7. iCloud sync (optional)
The app works fully without iCloud. If you turn on sync and are signed in to iCloud, your documents, signatures and code history are synchronized between your devices via the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account. The transfer runs exclusively through Apple’s infrastructure; the developer has no access to this data. Apple’s privacy terms apply: apple.com/legal/privacy. Sync conflicts are shown to you and never silently overwritten.
8. Widgets, controls, Shortcuts and share extension
Widgets, controls for Control Center and the Action button, Shortcuts, Spotlight search and the share extension work with data on your device. Widgets read a small snapshot from the shared app group storage; with App Lock on, they show no titles and no previews. The camera extension for the translator takes a photo while the device is locked, keeps it on the device only temporarily and does not read any of the app’s documents. With the share extension you bring in files from other apps only when you explicitly share them.
9. Exports, printing and sharing
Exported, printed or shared documents (PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, text) are files under your control. Where you store or send them is up to you; with “Quick Save” the app can, if you wish, put files in the “OneTwo Scanner” folder in your iCloud Drive. The app never stores a PDF password. When you redact, the text under the box is removed from exported files and from the text recognition.
10. Contact by email
If you write to support, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request. If you write a message from within the app, your mail app opens; you can optionally attach diagnostics (without titles, texts, code contents or file names) and you see beforehand what is attached. Please do not send confidential documents by email.
11. Legal basis
Where personal data is processed, this is done to provide the app functions you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For the optional iCloud sync, the App Lock and the camera features it is your consent by turning on or using the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Answering support requests is based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
12. Disclosure to third parties
Your documents are not disclosed to third parties, except for the technically necessary processing by Apple described above as part of the optional iCloud sync.
13. Your rights
Your documents are on your device or in your own iCloud account; you can view, edit, export and delete them in the app at any time. In addition, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, subject to the legal requirements.
