2. Basic principle: local data processing
OneTwo Bike has no server of the developer, no user account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no in-app purchases, no third-party SDKs and no tracking. No data is collected or transmitted to the developer. Processing takes place on your device.
3. What data the app stores
The app stores your rides with route, times, speed, elevation, tags, notes, photos (with location and viewing direction) and your settings on your device. Heart rate values are shown and stored but stay on the device.
4. Location
Location is used exclusively to record the route of a recording you started, also with the screen locked (background location). The app only asks for “While Using the App”, never “Always”. Recording only starts when you start it yourself. Location is not transmitted to the developer.
5. Other permissions
The app asks for permissions only when you use the matching feature. Motion & Fitness: barometer for more accurate climbing. Camera: optional, photos during a ride. Photos (add only): optional, a copy of photos in the library. Health: optional, read heart rate and, if you wish, save finished rides as cycling workouts (with time span and distance, without route and without heart rate) in Health. Without Health access the app works fully, just without heart rate. Heart rate values are never synced to iCloud, never exported and never shared with third parties.
6. Apple Watch
The Watch app is a remote control for the iPhone: it starts, pauses and finishes a ride and shows metrics and heart rate; the recording runs on the iPhone. During a ride it starts a workout session so heart rate is measured more often and sends it live to the iPhone. Data exchange runs through Apple’s system functions.
7. Voice announcements
The voice announcements (per kilometer or mile, on pause and on demand) are generated by your device itself. They are off by default and can be turned on in Settings. They run in the background while a recording is running.
8. Map
To display the map the app uses Apple’s map framework. The map needs an internet connection to load new areas; Apple’s privacy terms apply. If you choose “Place” as the naming default for new rides in Settings, the start point of the ride is sent to Apple’s place-name service to determine the place name (requires internet); the “Date and time” default does not need this.
9. Live Activity, widget and shortcut
The Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, the widget and the shortcut to start a ride (Siri, Shortcuts app, Action button; can be turned off in Settings) work with data on your own devices.
10. iCloud sync (optional)
The app works fully without iCloud. If you turn on sync and are signed in to iCloud, rides including route image, photos and some settings (auto-pause, naming default, copy to library) are synchronized between your devices via the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account. The transfer runs exclusively through Apple’s infrastructure; the developer has no access to this data. Apple’s privacy terms apply: apple.com/legal/privacy. If there is a conflict, you decide which version wins.
11. Export
Exported files (GPX) and photos are files under your control. Note that a GPX file contains your route with places, times and elevation (without heart rate values and without notes). Where you send it is up to you.
12. Contact by email
If you write to support, I process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request.
13. Legal basis
Where personal data is processed, this is done to provide the app functions you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For location, Health, camera and the optional iCloud sync it is your consent by granting the permission or turning on the feature (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Answering support requests is based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.
14. Disclosure to third parties
Your data is not disclosed to third parties, except for the technically necessary processing by Apple described above as part of the optional iCloud sync and the map display.
15. Your rights
Your data is on your device or in your own iCloud account; you can view, edit, export and delete it in the app at any time. In addition, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, subject to the legal requirements.
