This privacy policy applies specifically to the Navigate Back app and supplements the general privacy policy of this website, which covers visiting the website itself.

2. Core Principle: Local Data Processing

Navigate Back is designed so that all data – saved spots, recorded tours, notes and settings – is stored exclusively on your iPhone or iPad. There is no developer-operated server that this data is transmitted to. The app does not track you, does not include any analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not build usage profiles.

3. iCloud Sync

You can optionally enable syncing your data via iCloud. In that case, your saved spots, tours and settings are synchronized between your Apple devices (e.g. iPhone and iPad) through your own, private iCloud account. This transfer takes place exclusively via Apple's own iCloud infrastructure; the developer has no access to this data. Apple's privacy policy additionally applies: apple.com/legal/privacy. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app's settings.

4. Location, Maps and Sensor Data (Apple Frameworks)

For its core functions, Navigate Back relies on built-in Apple frameworks:

  • Location (GPS): to determine your position, record your tour, and navigate to saved spots. Location data is processed only locally on the device and only collected with your consent.
  • Compass: for directional information and orientation.
  • Apple Maps (MapKit): to display maps, download offline maps, and calculate routes. Map requests to Apple Maps are subject to Apple's own privacy policy.
  • Translation and speech: the translation chat uses the corresponding Apple frameworks for translation, speech recognition and text-to-speech.

These features run through the system services provided by Apple. No additional data is transmitted to the developer as a result.

5. Access Permissions

The app requests permissions (e.g. for location) individually, with an explanation of their purpose. You can revoke granted permissions at any time via the iOS system settings; some app features may then no longer be available.

6. Legal Basis

The described data is processed to provide the app functions you requested (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and, in the case of optional iCloud sync, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).

7. Disclosure to Third Parties

Your app data is not shared with third parties, except for the technically necessary processing by Apple described above in connection with iCloud, Apple Maps and the Apple frameworks used.

8. Your Rights

Since your app data is stored exclusively locally or in your own iCloud account, you always have full control over it: you can view, edit and delete saved spots and tours directly in the app. Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you also have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
